With the word 'but', you can infer that my negative thinking kicks in again. A job offer should be something worth celebrating about, especially when it offers to pay you more than your current job. Yes, indeed, I had received an offer last week, however, I have yet receive the official offer letter. They informed that they will send the letter to me by mail.
Since I have not officially receive and accept the offer, I have not informed my current company about my resignation. I am not sure if that is the right thing to do. If you are an employer, you will probably side the company. If you are an employee who had gone through financial difficulties, you will probably think that I may be doing the right thing. Yes, everyone will have their perspective on the same issues. Hence, there are many solutions to the same problem we encountered. Deciding which is the better solution of resolving the issue is a difficult task, at least I think it is.
Solution: Once I received the letter of offer, sign return it to accept the job offer. Then, informed my current company about my resignation and thank them for the opportunities they had given to me.
Problem: Current company is very low in manpower, I am working in a two-man team. My supervisor will be taking leave during July. To be accurate, the whole of July. This made me feel as if I am responsible to stay and be responsible for the functions of my department in her absence. However, the benefits and opportunities presented in the job offers outweigh my current. Staying in my current job has a high opportunity cost. Yes, even though responsible is a virtue, what provides you will your meal everyday is still money.
Conclusion: I will accept the job offer and resign from my current position.
Challenge: What is the best way to do it?
I would appreciate if someone can share their thoughts and opinions on this. My friend's opinion was to resign immediately as the company can find someone else to replace you in no time. Moreover, even if you stay, there are no additional incentives being given and no one will realise that you are responsible except for yourself. It is true, but I am just struggling morally within myself. That explains why I was so irritated recently.
Perhaps I will spend some time thinking for a better way to resign and convey my apologies.
*Time to put on my thinking cap.*
Have a good night rest and I will update again soon.
