There are two upcoming smart watches which I am following closely. Moto 360 2 and Sansung Gear S2. I think for those who follows tech news, you would have heard about them already. The design and specifications are largely made known in the media.
I can't comment about the viability of a smart watch as I have not used one before. But, from the functions stated, I think it suits executives who do not wish to miss their emails or messgaes. Additionally, there is also news push function. This is a useful function as you may not spend as much time readingg the news at static. With smart watch, you can do simple tasks on-the-go. This is supposedly to increase you efficiency. (Note that nothing is certain unless we measure the before and after.) There should be quite a number of articles out there which talks about the benefits of smart watches. Here are a few references you can refer to:

To me, smart watch has all the functions of a normal watches and more. However, one concern I have is the durability. I have a normal watch which lasted for at least 8 years. I doubt a smart watch could do that. Old technological devices always have issues of lagness. That is the main reason I have not gotten one at all. Slowly but surely, my perspective is shifting ever so slightly on trying one out.
What do you think?
